Good Shepherd School, Charlestown - Director

The Good Shepherd School in Charlestown, MA is seeking a Director for the 2011-2012 school year. The Director is the spiritual, instructional, and administrative head of the school, and is responsible for the effective operation of the school as a Catholic educational institution. He/she is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere for all members of the school community (faculty, staff, students, parents and donors) and a climate that encourages the engagement of each student in the learning process while fostering a love for learning. This school is committed to fostering the development of the whole child in all areas: spiritual, intellectual, physical and emotional and to supporting the diversity of the surrounding urban community. The program will incorporate Spanish/English two-way bilingual education and the Catholic Christian values upon which it is founded. The Director reports directly to the Board of Directors. Qualifications

The Director of Good Shepherd Preschool is a practicing Catholic, with a Bachelor or Master’s (preferred) degree in Early Childhood Education is required. Licensed or eligible for Commonwealth of Massachusetts (EEC) licensing as a Director of Preschool and/or group childcare program with five or more years experience in teaching and/or leadership positions in early education. A working knowledge of both Spanish and English and literacy issues related to bilingual or ELL programming is also highly desirable.
